Chargeable Standard Routing service numbers must be part of a Standard Routing service Package. These fall into 4 main categories and are charged slightly differently. In each case however, the account holder must have in place a recurring payment mechanism such as Direct Debit or Credit Card to allow for the automatic collection of payment once the bills have been calculated and sent.
Single Number Monthly
These packages allow for the monthly purchase in advance of a number of minutes that must be used within 2 months (i.e unused minutes from the previous month may be carried forward to the next month). At the beginning of each month the billing process will determine the number of minutes used during the previous month. If this total is less than the number of minutes in the package (plus any carried forward minutes) then the account will be billed the normal monthly package price and any used minutes will carry forward. If the total is greater however then the account will be billed the normal monthly package price plus the cost of the additional minutes used at the over package rate. In this instance no unused minutes will be available to carry forward.
Example
- Customer is on £10 pcm 0870 package (providing 500 mins).
- Beginning of month 1 they are billed for £10.
- Month 1 they use 330 minutes.
- Beginning of month 2 they are billed for £10 but they now have 500 + 170 minutes available.
- In month 2 they use 745 minutes.
- Beginning of month 3 they are billed for:
- £10 monthly charge plus
- additional minutes of 75 minutes (745 – 670) x 0.03 (Over Package rate) = £2.25
- .. giving total bill of £12.25.
- No minutes are carried forward.
Single Number Annual
These packages allow for the purchase of a number of minutes that must be used up within 12 months. At the beginning of each month the billing process will determine the number of minutes used since the purchase of the package. If this total is less than the number of minutes in the package and the 12 month period has not expired then there will be no bill raised against the account. Should the 12 month period have expired however or the total of minutes used exceed the minutes purchased then the billing process will automatically purchase a new package of minutes that would be valid for a further 12 months from the beginning of the month. Any minutes used over the previous minutes purchased would be deducted from the available minutes within the new package.
Example
- Customer purchases 1500 x 0800 minutes for £60 on Jan 1st 2010. These minutes must be used by 31st Dec 2010.
- For next 4 months customer uses 400 minutes per month
- Beginning of May the billing process calculates that the minutes used is now 1600 which is 100 minutes greater than the amount purchased. It automatically purchases a new package of 1500 minutes with an expiry date of 30th April 2011 and sets the available minutes to 1400 (1500 -100).
Multi-Number Annual
These work in a very similar manner to the Single Number Annual packages except that they have to be purchased in minimum amounts. Once purchased, each Multi-Number package is allocated the relevant telephone number and in effect works exactly like a Single Number Annual package but allowing a lower volume of minutes to be purchased.
Multi-Number Monthly
These work in a very similar manner to the Single Number Monthly packages except that they have to be purchased in minimum amounts and they do not allow for rollover of unused minutes. Once purchased, each Multi-Number package is allocated the relevant telephone number and in effect works exactly like a Single Number monthly package without rollover minutes and allowing for a lower volume of minutes to be purchased.
