03 numbers have been designed by Ofcom as an alternative to 08 numbers, but can only be used by non profit organisations. Callers dialling your 03 number should pay the same as calling normal geographic 01 /02 landlines and must be included in any discount or inclusive minute packages. No revenues are payable on any 03 numbers.
Only qualifying not-for-profit making organisations may use 030 numbers, including charities, The BBC, Police, RSPCA, local councils and some government departments etc. Ofcom have produced a help document and web pages for organisations that are eligible to use 030 numbers. See links below.
- 030 Number Elegibility Guidance (OFCOM)
When someone calls your 03 number they are charged the same as calling a BT landline. The call is automatically (and instantly) redirected to whichever phone number you have given us. You can change the UK landline it diverts to from within your Callagenix account. Any changes are immediate and can be done as often as you like free of charge. In addition, call data is also included free of charge.
If you would like your 03 number to do more than divert to your UK landline, for example, route to mobiles, internationally, or use an Virtual switchboard, Answerphone, Company information line, ACD (group divert) etc, you can do this and much more using our intelligent routing services. Please contact us, or look at our range of intelligent routing services.
You can of course start with a standard routing service and upgrade to intelligent routing services using the same 03 number at a later date.

Why use an 03 number?
You can take the number with you if you relocate, something which cannot be done with standard local landline numbers and you can have calls forwarded to your existing landline or mobile anywhere in the world.
In addition, 03 and all 08XX numbers offer greater flexibility when implementing “Business Continuity” and “Disaster Recovery” plans into your business.
- An 03 can be called reliably from outside of the UK, e.g +448706260626. This is not true of the other 08xx ranges.
- An 08 non geographic number adds a touch of professionalism
These numbers are available with or without other Callagenix services, so you can create a solution that fits your business needs or select from one of our existing packages.
