Overview - Why use the conference call service?

Call conferencing (or teleconferencing) allows people on different telephone lines to talk to each other at the same time. Whether they’re in the next room or half way around the world, you can arrange a meeting without the expenditure of time and money that is usually associated with meetings.

Callagenix offer two types of conference call service.

Public access conference call – No account is needed and all participants pay for their own calls, dial 0871 890 1234 to try it now.

Private access conference call – You can choose your own dedicated call conference number. In addition you can add on security features such as CLI & PIN number recognition. You can even have your entire call conference recorded for later download. A Callagenix account is needed as the account holder pays for all participants.

How does the conference calling service work?

Public access
For the public access conference calling service, you call the designated number below and select 2 from the options menu. This will provide you with the necessary PIN which you can distribute to conference members. At the time you have arranged, delegates simply call the same number, select 1 from the options menu to join the call conference, and then enter the PIN you have given them.

This sort of conference call can be used for up to 30 participants, and involves no set-up or account.

Private access
The private access call conference service is set up and operated in much the same way, but is not restricted to a single number. You can nominate any telephone number held by Callagenix – an 0800 free phone number to provide a free meeting for participants, or even a 0871 Rate 10ppm number to generate income.

Callers must enter a PIN, and an additional security measure is available in the form of Calling Line Identity (CLI) to ensure that the conference remains confidential.

Private call conferences can be arranged for 30 + participants. The whole call conference can be monitored and controlled via a web-based management system, through which you can disconnect people, or change their status from ‘speaker’ to ‘listener’ and vice versa. A complete, downloadable record of the call conference can also be made available, enabling accurate minutes to be produced.

What are the costs?

All service costs are per day and include a choice of a single telephone number. Depending upon the number chosen to run your service, there may be a call cost to you, or revenue paid to you.

The conference call costs depend on which system you opt for. The public access call conference costs each caller the BT national call rate. There are no set-up costs involved, and no line rental costs.
